Proofreading services

Wordy’s proofreading service differs in three important ways: our proofreaders are available 24/7, you have direct access to your editor, and our constant review system guarantees you the best possible end result. In short, Wordy provides you with a proofreading service that delivers maximum quality at a minimum price.

Controlled proofreader acquisition and peer-reviews

Wordy recruits specialist proofreaders in all major time zones, including Europe, the United States, Australia, Asia, Africa and the Middle East to fulfil our clients' needs for speedy delivery. Our global network of proofreading professionals means no matter what time zone you're in, your content is likely to be picked up within minutes and processed in a similarly prompt manner. As long as you have an Internet connection, you have access to Wordy’s proofreading services and global network of proofreaders.

Proofreading services UK and beyond

When choosing a proofreading service UK clients largely look for quality, cost and expedience. And while Wordy strives to tick all these three boxes our service is not limited to the UK alone. In fact we go to great lengths to ensure that our service remains unmatched on a worldwide level.

English proofreading services

For speakers of English as a Second Language (ESL) the use of colloquial metaphors or idioms can be almost impossible to master, and incorrect use can misdirect the reader. Wordy's English proofreading services takes the hassle out of writing on-message content – even for ESL speakers – and ensure that any document intended for native English speakers will be clearly understood.

If you require an English proofreading service and you want your work proofed and returned to you promptly, it is time to create your free account on Wordy. We have done all we can to ensure our English proofreading service is the absolute best it can be, so your content will stay on message.

If I give you a list of bullet points, can you expand that into normal written text for me?

Wordy editors don't create content. The writing is up to you. If you write what you want to say in paragraphs, we can improve the text for you, but we don't expand notes into full sentences.

I have a document in UK English of around 8,000 word (academic paper, social sciences). If I submit it tomorrow morning UK time, can I expect to get it back the same day?

Editing text of that length would usually take 5 or 6 hours, which is a reasonable working day. Academic jobs tend not to be claimed instantly, so there might be a delay before the right editor becomes available. Once an editor claims your job and has made an initial assessment of the text, they can give you a better idea of how long it will take. Additionally, you could request express service, which would place your job in a preferential position on the job board.

What if I ask for my text to be proofread or rewritten and nothing changes?

If you try to download the edited file by clicking on the document title at the top of the page, you will only see your original document. Make sure you select "Download edited file". When you open it up, you may have to select "Enable editing" and then "Review all changes" before the tracked changes become visible. If you still can't see any changes, it is possible your editor has uploaded the original version by mistake. If you send them a message through the job page, they can check.

When will you assign an editor to my job?

We don't assign work to editors. Editors claim jobs according to their personal timetables (and according to their areas of expertise). However, we aim to have at least one editor keeping an eye on the job board and the chat service at all times of the day and night, and you will very rarely have to wait long for your document to be picked up. That's the big advantage of having our editors located around the globe. At every hour of the day or night, you will find a Wordy editor ready and willing to get started on your work.

How do I get to work for Wordy?

Unfortunately, we are not currently recruiting. Wordy gives editors the freedom to work as much or as little as they like, which means that editors rarely (if ever) stop working for the service completely. That means there are few vacancies. For the latest information, please see https://www.wordy.com/wordy-for-editors. If there are no jobs available at the moment but you are still interested in finding work, we suggest that, in the meantime, you look for training courses to boost your editorial skills. In the UK, the governing body is the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (https://www.ciep.uk), and they offer training courses and advice on becoming an editor or proofreader.
